LightOS v348: What’s New

LightOS v348: What’s New The (unofficial) Light Phone Podcast

This episode summarizes the updates in the new LightOS software update v348. This episode is also available as a blog post: https://thelightpod.wordpress.com/2023/02/14/lightos-v348-whats-new/ The Light Phones Software Versions and Change Log help document.

Yesterday when I booted up my Light Phone after accidentally letting the battery die, I was pleasantly surprised to find an update for LightOS. Update version 348 was released on February 9th, 2023 and is primarily focused on bug fixes.

You can find a full list of bug fixes and new features on the Light Phones Software Versions and Change Log help document which will be linked in the show notes, but here are the highlights.

  • Improvements to messaging including automatically navigating to the conversational thread when sending a message to a new contact. There are also improvements to the scrolling list so you can add more than 10 contacts to a thread, and bug fixes for draft messages.
  • Podcast bug fixes so that out-of-date Podcast information from iTunes does not cause streaming or download failures, as well as added support for private podcast links which use basic authentication.
  • General bug fixes for the directions, podcast, and music tools, and the spell checker.

While this may not be the most exciting update to LightOS it is always nice to see general quality of life improvements outside of major releases. We also have the Calendar Tool to look forward to which should be let loose in the near future.
